built a new exhaust for the 99
So I went from a single 2 3/4 exhaust with a 3 inch dynomax ultra flow to a single 3 1/2 inch exhaust using a 3 1/2 inch dynomax bullet. This truck had a single in dual out IMCO 50 series flowmaster equivalent muffler on it when I got it and dual 2 1/4 tailpipes. A few years back I got rid of that in favor of a stock tailpipe from Oreillys, the stock head pipe, and the 3 inch dynomax ultra flow. Got tired of how it looked and how lame it sounded and put this together. I had saved a good 6.0 3/4 ton tailpipe from a muffler that had broken inlets. Used a 4 foot straight section, a 45 degree bend and a 90 degree bend. Cut the hangers off the old exhaust and fitted them to the new exhaust. The end result was not all that impressive sound wise but the engineering put into the system and its appearance was pretty nice I thought. It fits well, sounds ok, and seems to have more response through the midrange. WOT should be better but I haven't gotten out on the road yet to test it. Obviously its overkill but there doesn't seem to be any adverse side effects and it looks better then what was on there. Still need to put the tip on though.

Its surprisingly quiet. I don't know if the stock cats cancel out the sound that good or what but it really isn't loud at all.
I should get under there with some scotch brite and shine up the old nasty tailpipe so it all looks new.
