Looks like a nice setup to me. You have more cam than I'm running in my 6.0L, more stall, and less gear. If you're going NA, you might want to get the heads milled down some or use a thinner head gasket. My heads were hand ported/polished and milled, and I'm using a thinner gasket. Are you planning on using the 918 springs? I'm happy with them and they are pretty affordable. If the tranny only has a vette servo, be prepared to yank that thing back out fairly soon. My was fully built and it lasted about a year. That's a great stall to go with on that cam choice. Wish I would have gone up to a 3200-3500 instead of the 3000.
Good luck with it.

Edit....just read you didn't get the heads with the 6.0L. I would look into getting my hands on a set for an affordable price and get the work done to them.

Slow process....why did your built 4l60e only last a year???

Why would it be better for him to 6.0l heads instead of the 5.3l. I thought the 5.3l flowed better?

Y do you regret only gettin a 3000stall. Im lookin into gettin a 2800-3000 for my dd 5.3l with stock cam(for now) and 4.10 gears. should I go bigger hten 3000?

Im not slowprocess, but I may can help answer a few of these questions

The 317 casting 6l heads have larger valves, and flow better than the 5.3 heads. Even if you put bigger valves in the 5.3 heads, you run into problems with shrouding the valves.

A 3000 stall would be great for a stock cammed truck. He was recomending a larger stall because of the cam size (I think)

Im sure if I misrepresented the southern way of thinking hell correct me. Hope that helps a little

The trucks are a lot heavier than a f-body. I know a few f-body guys that have had tranny problems, but almost everyone I know that has done a6l swap in a truck has problems with the 4l60. When you do a complete build, you dont always replace all the hard parts, from what I understand th esun gear shell has a tendency to crack as well as other things. Depending on how "built" it was would depend on the strength. I have a "built" tranny, but I dont have the "beast" sun shell, or the 5 gear planateries.

Man that sucks about the longevity of the 918's I wasnt planning on replacing them every year. What a bitch.

well the 918 strength rating is at .600 lift which is the max that they recomend, for 10k miles, so less lift on the cam more longevity they will have
