Default Buick Rainer or Envoy

Hi everyone,

I am looking to lease a Buick Rainer or GMC Envoy, but have two questions.

1) A good website (besides this one) to learn about both vehicles? Engines, suspensions...

2) During a test drive, the Rainer tended to have a little body roll and during braking the car dips a considerable amount. Is this normal?

Both vehicles were the 2005 model, but the Rainer had the V8 and Envoy had the V6. The V8 with 4 people in the car would pull on the Envoy with only me in it. I am tending to favor the Rainer (V8), but just want to know more about both vehicles.

I like the looks of the Envoy better, but you can only get the V-8 in the long wheelbase version. I know there have been rumors of a Trailblazer SS, dunno if you can wait a year (or more, knowing GM.)

If it were my choice, I'd get the V-8 in the SWB Rainier.

Hi Scream,

I was looking at the AWD Rainer with the 5.3L. They only come in the shorter version, which works great for me.

I am curious if the weight of the 5.3L is too much for the plush suspension in the Rainer. I am willing to wait, but I will tell you that the V8 Rainer moves, I would be interested at to what the SS will offer. Plus, since it is a 2 yr lease, it would be right in time for the SS.

Any thoughts about another website to visit to learn more?

You mean there are other sites besides LS1tech?

Seroiusly though, I don't know of any forums dedicated to the TB/Envoy/Rainier/Ascender/Saab SUVs.

Thanks Scream!

I am leaning for the Rainer as well. Actually, a fully loaded V8 Rainer is cheaper than the Envoy for a 2 yr lease. Go figure!

I also like the looks of the Envoy better, but only the short one and it only comes with the I-6. If you're looking for a V-8, I would go for the Rainier.

Rainier. It probably isnt the better handling car because of the Buick ride, but the V8 in SWB is a good combination. Plus the interior on the Buick is pretty damn nice. My wife will only drive Buicks, but she liked the Rendezvous, so we got that.

the trailblazer SS is supposed to come with around 350hp 6.0L according to the latest trucking rag. they said it was going to be produced for the 2006 model year and be available for late summer 05 if i remember correctly.
