Default Budget 4.8 build, will it make the 13's?

Here is what I got so far...

99' Sierra 4.8 2wd, and no mods except weight reduction (roll pan, no hitch or spare)

I want to be able to beat everything at my school. I'm 16.
The fastest car at my school in hicktown is a 00' GT Mustang w/ intake and short shifter. I think it runs about 14 seconds flat.

That's it, that's all I want is to do is beat that stang, he thinks he's so bad, ya well I'll show him!!!

So this is what I got planned, with the money I made over the summer.
First I want to build up my P.O.S. 4L60E so it don't blow. I don't drive fast most of the time, but I do race every once in a while.

Trans Cooler $50
Shift Kit $150

Then I want to get rid of the 3.42's with the one wheel peel
So I'm going with a Used Locker w/ OEM 4.10's $350 (I can put this in myself)

then to finish it off...
02 PCM Swap, Wait4Me tuned $150
Used Nitrous Wet Kit (100 shot) $350

Grand Total is... $1,050

I'm thinking high 13's without a stall. I'm on a strict budget so no stall anytime soon.

Another reason I like this combo is because it dosen't hurt my mpg unless I hit the spray, which won't be to often I hope.
I think a converter would kill my miledge, and for a kid in high school, gas money does NOT come easy, especially when your trying to save for mods!!!

Thanks for reading & please tell me what y'all think before I go spend my hard earned money!

Later,
Nick

The shift kit + servos scares me because I've heard of some people that have taken thier servos out because of to hard of a shift.

and yes, I will get the window switch so I don't spray on shifts, and also the presure regulator.

Thanks for the reply,
Nick

I have a shift kit + servos and a nelson tune with a 130 shot on a stock 80,000+ transmission and don't have any problems. Even with my 2800 converter.

i had a shift kit, diablo handheld, and a 125 shot on mine at 80k miles and it ran a 8.8 spinning in the 1/8. that makes a 13 second run easy with your set up.

Id do a cheap used cam swap. If you do the work yourself it could cost less than $300.

cam in a 4.8 with stock stall might not be the way to go.

seems like a prety good plan. there really isn't a way to set up the window swith to "not spray thru the shift", i think if you have it shut off right before the shift it will come back on during the shift. it would probably be easier on things to just leave it on. the window switch is there to make sure it doesn't come on at too low of an rpm and to shut off in case of a driveline failure.

i think the only way nitrous should be done is if it is with all the extras, including the heater. probably cost you $500 or so for a used kit with a heater but it is worth it.

dont forget exhaust get a magnaflow muff and just use the same stock exhaust pipe just need to do some chopping, chop off the tail pipe and use it as a dump and while your down there I would do an off road y pipe mine cost me about 45 bucks get 2 mandrel U bends 2.5" and a straight 36" section of 2.5" weld it up just have jesse delete the rear 02's on your tune. That exhaust setup will probably give you 20rwhp more for under 200 bucks youd be suprised what you can pickup from just the y pipe and a muffler!!!

Looking forward to reading about you demolishing that stang.
