I didnt even realize any were broken off inside the head before this weekend since they were broken past the surface. I tried using a bolt extractor but broke it off in the hole Any suggestions?

 

Hell your gravy, cuz the heads are off.. Take a nut, set it over top the broken stud, weld down inside the nut hole, so it welds the nut to the broken bolt..

 

Could you drill it out with a hardened bit? I would soak it in PB Blaster or Kroil for a bit if you are going to try and back it out though, that should loosen it up.

 

Wont that damage the heads? Turn the nut sideways, or flush with the head?

Tried drilling it out with cobalt bits, not much luck.

 

Use a 3/8th nut, so that hole in it is about the same size as the bolt hole. Lay it open end up, so that you can see the stud ofthe broken bolt. Weld strait down so that it welds the broken bolt to the nut. USE A NON GALVINIZED bolt. It might melt the area around the hole some, but nothing that should cause issue, or that can't be cleaned up. I have done it a few times, with out issue..

 

I'd try notching it and use a big wide screwdriver in the notch. Then just unscrew

Matco sells the best bolt extractors ive ever used.

My Tech friends and the dealer use them alot.

 

So I'm not the only one who breaks off extractors making the bolt 10 times harder to remove.

 

hahahaha i did this same thing in my swap! my guy did the nut trick and it came right out!
