Broken dipstick tube now in oil pan.

Well what can I say other than what the title says. The mother wouldn't come out as thats why it broke. But it had no problem falling in the oil pan while trying to put a screw in there to pull it out. Gonna drain teh oil and stick a magnet in there and see what that comes out with. As always all help is appreciated.

Been there done that. You can unbolt the pan and lower or tilt it enough to get your hand in. Its not easy to get your hand in, but it can be done. Its a lot easier than trying to remove the pan completely.

Mine is a 4X4 and theres about 1 inch between the pan and crossmember so I opted to pull the engine.

How can that be a "don't worry about it" situation won't that 2 inch piece of metal sloshing around in there get caught in the crank/connecting rod/piston area and cause damage? After all that is the rotating assembly. Like I said the engine is on its way out to remove the heads and cam and mount the supercharger.

That piece in the bottom of the sump will never leave there unless you try some dukes of hazzard jumps or maybe 4wheeling up or down a 70* incline. But if you are doing a head and cam swap then it is just a good excuse to make that job easier out of the truck.

Well i do alot of 4X4ing and yeah that was part of the reason that i'm pulling the engine. I am also in the middle of doing a 02-05 caddy conversion so with the hood fenders bumper and rad all out of the way, its all frame and motor baby
