Default Broke the cam and a lifter.

Well guy two weeks ago i was coming back home and i had the itch for a little speed. I was doin a run fro a 30 to around 60 in the feader. I slowed down to get of the feader and 3min later i hear a nasty sound not good. I like fu$k i broke my engine ahhhhhhhhh. So the net morning a sunday i bring my frends over to c what they think and they said that i had broke a piston. Well i was mad but i need my truck so i pulled the engine out. I took of the heads and checked the pistons and all were ok so then i took of the first lifter on the passenger side and it was mising a pice i drained the oiland the hole pice came out. The cam is also gone no pices were broken just smushed in a scrached. Do yall think that i shoud take the hole motor apart or just give it a little clean and put some ls7lifters and put it back on the truck. I bought a ls1 from an 05 to 04 gto and wanted to put it on my truck. What yall guys think shoud i go ls1 or 6.0 lq9 im going to get a 232/236 595/601 113 cam with some stock 243s . Shoud i get them ported and milled or just put them like that any info thanks.

i also got my 4l80e for sale with a multy disc stall 3800rpm was working ok when pulled out im going back to the 4l60e im dont think im putting that much hp to the wheels lol. I also got the creoss memeber and yoke and rhwe harness fom nelson performance. the only part of the 4l80e that broken is the toop 3 holes it brke when i puuled it of i forgot a dam bolt but the sides are ok i would like to get 1000 bucks the stall i can take it to get it cleaned and checked before i sell it.

I just went through a similar situation. There will be debris through the whole motor, you'll need to clean every oil passage, every nook and cranny, every thing. You need to remove the cam bearings to get the metal filings out from behind them. You'll almost definitely need a new oil pump. Oh, yeah, and a new oil filter.

Something similar just happened to my cam. Thankfully it was caught before much damage was done.

In the process of disassembly, it was found that the cam had some cracks on the lobes and given a few more hundred miles it would of started flaking. Just lucky that I decided to rebuild the motor when I did. Weird thing is that the cam was newer than the motor, it had less than 10,000 miles on it while the motor had maybe 30,000 miles on it.
Ehhhh

I'm gonna start a build thread here eventually and I'll throw pictures up of old motor.
