I've never changed the pads on the truck but, always have had good luck with Raybestos brake pads on other vehicles. The local autostore sells them around here, not sure what big chain stores sell them though.

i think advanced sells them, not sure though. my rear discs went early on mine. only 58k on them right now and they are really bad. they are chipping and big pieces of rust are coming of it. only the bottom half of the brake pad comes in contact with the rotor. they are making that chirping noise now. so i have rotors and pads on order. my dealer said over $220 for one rear rotor. so i order 4. J/K. i went online and ordered a set that came with pads for $260

Any people try anything else, like powerslots? I am gonna need fronts soon, mine are chipping like yours keuka. Just noticed that the other day when I had to do a front wheel bearing, easy but snuck up on me. Wish I could do the Bear eradispeed kits but the cost of that plus the 18's needed, I can't handle.

The GM pads will always be the best imo. They are really thick, no dust, and quiet. $175 is really expensive but how often do you want to do this...

I have about 65k on the truck now, I think one of the pads must have broke, because it sounds like dragging an aluminum boat behind with no trailer when you hit the brakes. One minute they were fine and the next, poof up in smoke. Probly some Ford rust off the highway built up and caused the problem.

i agree w/ ryan... the OEM stuff has always worked best with me. i havent had any problems w/ the truck yet (51k on the meter) and ive had 2 impala's that needed brake changes only once in a 100k period.

There seems to be an issue with the rear brakes on the NBS pickups. I had to replace both rear rotors and pads at 45k on my 01 Z71. We have a lot of dirt roads here and the rear rotors catch a lot of crap coming off of the front tires. GM has a mud flap type deal that you can put in front of the passenger side rear rotor to catch and prevent premature failure. When I replaced my rear brakes I still had 80% life left on my front pads. Cost $400 at the dealer to get everything fixed. I didn't buy the mud flap, I just sold the truck
