Default Bosch 044 inline or intank?

This pump seems to be the ticket with FI over the Walbro 255. I like the fact that it's an OEM pump. I'm looking for the best reliability possible. After having the stock one fail on the street I don't want that to happen again.

So, would it be better to run the 044 intank or inline with the stock fuel pump in tank? It's a return fuel system of course on the 2000. I really like the idea of the inline, as then there would be no worries about driving around with less than 1/4 tank. However, how would the performance and reliability compare with the inline versus the intank? Does running two pumps make either more likely to fail? A lot of people say that if your inline dies you are screwed as the intank wont be able to pump through it. But if you only run an intank and it fails you're screwed as well...

The pump is a bigger pump, in turn will make more heat then the 255 will on the rail.. Like we talked if you are only looking and are happy with 550 or so hp, the 255 inline will be fine for what you are wanting to do.. I am sure others will say basically the same thing.. If the intank pump fails the rail pump will draw through it, however you will be able to notice, I am sure a drop in some FP..

But, the 255 is not as reliable as the 044 based on my searches! That is a no go.

The 044 seems to be the ticket to 750+ rwhp.

I really don't care if the 044 makes more heat, it's designed as an inline pump, so I'm sure it can handle it just fine.

And what's wrong with a stocker? Are you seriously going to be making as much power as you're dreaming about or do you want to "feel good"? Do a dual stocker setup if you need the volume. Has anyone ever built one of those?

Bump!

It seems like Inline is the way to go with this badboy.

I like this way way better than hacking up the stock fuel bucket. I like the fact that this setup can easily be returned to stock

Your getting better Not that its the best, or worst, but it will surly work. Still will support the power you will throw at it...

I shot whippled a PM regarding all the parts necessary. Another thing to consider is the thickness of the 2500 HD frame rail, the 1500 definitely doesn't have that much room in there. I'll need to get under there and take a look to see what I got to work with.

Yeah, it should be able to support 550, I don't know how much more than that it can do. Running the pump inline should boost it's output a bit as well over using in intank.

Negative, once the big pump gets primed it will over take the intank, so no more boost over the bign

Another issue I saw in whippled thread was that the fuel lines were losing pressure when priming after the pump shut off. I thought since the intank pump has the check valve that the inline pump does not need one. Or is this not the case? The 044 does not have a check valve I believe.
