Default Borla owners, come in please!

Guys, I'm lookin to put a borla xr-1 3"in 3" outlet round muffler on my truck, how do these mufflers sound cruising at 2,300-2,600 rpms? are they stupid loud or what? I have a magnaflow but its just a little bit too mellow for me, wanting a little bit more. Anyone have sound clips please post! Thanks, J.B.

I just ordered a Borla cat-back (140014) for my 2005 Z71. I haven't gotten it so it's not installed yet, but I can tell you I had an XR-1 round race muffler that was 3" in / out. I had it on my old 96 Z28 with long tube headers and ORY. I originally had that set up with an LM1 but it was stupid loud. After I made it into a Borlamouth, it toned the sound down a whole lot. It was still loud, but it was a lot tamer at cruise speeds. It still screamed at WOT.

Damn, I'm starting to miss having headers again.

Borla makes a fine product and I am sure you will not be disappointed with any of their mufflers. I believe the oval will dampen sound better than the round - it looks like it may have more surface area inside. All Borla mufflers are straight through with a stainless perforated tube / ceramic packing. They don't blow out, so they're awesome. If you don't want to dampen the sound stick with the 3" round. If you want it to be retarded loud I still have the LM1 I'll sell it to you

Had a Borla 3" SI/SO in place of stock before. Started out mellow, but over 3 years, the insides burned out and it became obnoxiously loud. Went with Magnaflow afterwards and very happy.

I have XR-1 13" oval 2.5" in/out and they sound scary at WOT but just cruising around are not as deep sounding as I like. Someday I might change my exhaust setup.
