OK thanks I just ordered a set of copper ones. Is there some kind of design flaw with the ASM's that keeps them from sealing well?

good deal on the copper ones. i have had no problems with them at all. i was blowing gaskets out of my cutout left and right. finally went with copper on that and my headers and have had zero problems.

I've not had a header yet (TOG's or the 3 bolt flanges on my PaceSetters) that sealed up good. I'm seriously thinking about those header buddie.s

I went through several paper and metal gaskets until I tried the aluminum ones. My aluminum gaskets worked well until I installed the radix. At that point, temps and pressure made mine melt too. Copper worked better, but didn't seal up as tight.

I moved my ASMs to 3" ball / socket flanges and now have no problems. Much easier to work with and not even minor leaks.

I bought a kit that had both sides. I cut off the existing 3 bolt flange, then expanded the header out to 3" diameter. Then I had to weld one side to the header and the other to the pipe.

I run Ultra Seal gaskets and never have a problem.
