Question Black Smoke???

Ive put a K&N 77 series and a 22" magna flow 3"single on the whip about 150 miles ago. Well last night I let the black beast Idle for about 10 minutes and when I pulled out and got on it my friend noticed some black smoke. I made him pull behind me w/his lights on and watch my take off. There was no smoke that time until the up shift from 1st to 2nd. Ive also noticed that the engine shivers from a dead stop if I stomp it. It didnt do that b4 the air filter swap. Maybe the pcm has to learn the higher air flow or somthing. What do you guys think? Appreciate it!

Yea, it may take a while for the PCM to learn and adjust. If you're seeing black smoke, that's an indication of a rich condition. You might want to check your MAF also and make sure that it didn't get covered in oil from the filter. If it did, it may be sending a false signal to the PCM and the PCM may be adding more fuel than necessary.

How many miles on the truck? Try some sea foam and clean out the carbon.

Man!!!, today I took my MAF off and it was filthy. Foamyed her up and air hose dried it, put back on. I backed my truck into the street and gave it some juice, no shutter, no hesitation, just whiplash. I had forgotten how oily that cone was when I put it on and it had just glazed my MAF screen over. Thanks Bro!!!
