Default Billet servo installation question

Installed a billet servo in my 2002 Silverado tonight. Instructions stated to grind tip of rod for 1/16 to 1/8 band adjustment clearance. Where do you determine this clearance or how? Or do you have to remove the pan?

Yep...gotta drop the pan. That is a step I had to perform with the install of the TransGo shift kit. The band is visible thru a gap in the valve body. I had to make sure the band would wiggle around a bit (high tech way of saying 1/16th to 1/8th inch clearance). If you need more details, send me an email at "sfranklin9@aol.com".

Thanks Scott, thats what I guessed. I installed the rod without the new tip. Figured the worst it could be is have the same clearance as before. Shifting feels much better anyway.

Jim, got it from www.kdsperformance.com ....$79+shipping, very tricky to remove and reinstall. The trick is to remove cover, remove e-clip and slide pistons off before trying to remove rod. Clearance is very limited between trans and tunnel. Goes back together the same way.

67SS509, glad you liked them. If you just take them out part by part you can do it. First time around it should take about two hours max.

Did you get just the intermediate or the overdrive too?

That clearance also changes shift timing...or when the band applies in reference to the forward/reverse clutches being released. Too tight and the band applies too early...too loose and it applies too late. But if its close, it should be fine.

My ATSG book says about 1/16"-1/8" and TransGo says 1/8"-1/4" (or maybe the other way around). So I figure somewhere between the 1/16" and 1/4" you should be fine.
