A bigger cam?
#63
Nearly 6 1/2 years later, I'm back contemplating the same thing...a bigger cam. New exhaust wasn't/isn't the answer. I believe I can achieve the sound I want without significantly impacting the bottom/midrange torque. I already have all the supporting mods, including a Yank 3200 stall.
All specs in my sig are current. My current cam is:
220/224, .581/.581, 112LSA, XE-R lobes, -2° overlap
I am currently looking at the following options.
1. PCM Attitude v3 cam
225/235, .61x/.62x, @ .050″, 113 LSA, +4° overlap
PCM of NC Attitude V3 Cam 225/235, .61x/.62x, @ .050?, 113 LSA ? PCM of NC, Inc.
2. LT1Z Stage 3
I have no specs on this cam, but think the Stage 2 is smaller than I want.
3. Custom grind? From where?
4. Other options/suggestions?
Also consider... I would like to have my tune tweaked by the cam provider, if possible. While my AFRs, timing, KR, etc are all great, there were a couple driveability issues I was never able to resolve. I don't want to make that the topic of this conversation, but is something to keep in mind.
Any idea how much this cam swap might affect my tune? Will a complete retune be required? I really don't want to go through all that again, so again, consider tuning when recommending a cam.

You could do a custom cam or an OTS cam,
The BT truck cams have some nice lope/chop, especially that stage4 truck cam.
When it comes to lope/chop, the lower the LSA, the more chop it will have. The BT stage4 truck cam is 111 I believe.

For reference...
Brian Tooley Stage 4 Truck Cam
224/230 .553/.547 111+2 +5° overlap

On the plus side, this cam wouldn't require new springs.
