Default best power adder for 04 SS

I just picked up a job to put on a Whipple SC for my wifes boss. He has an 04 SS. He wants a Whipple because thats what I have and I told him they were good. That was about 3 years ago. I have no problems with mine, but I have the 2 belt system with the old style bypass. I've heard a lot of complaints about the new programming and the computer controled bypass. Other than an exhaust, the truck is stock. And, it is driven through the winter with snow and salt. I wanted to try a STS system, but I dont like the idea of the air filter under the truck in crappy weather conditions. I see they have a remote intake, Anyone know where that reroutes to? In stock form do they have any drivability issues. Is the Radix worth the extra money? Any info appreciated.

Radix is definatly worth the money. Much more gain and one of the nicest and easiest to install kits out there. Damn thing looks stock. We have had about 6 Radix trucks at the shop in the last month. People that stop in are so used to seeing SS trucks with Radix blower they think they come like that lol. A stock SS with a Radix and a good tune will go 13.5's with just a Zippy shift kit and a trailblazer converter. In 75 degree weather. Not bad for the money if you ask me. BigTex just went 12.3 with his Radix.

My opinion might be one sided....But I think the Radix is well worth the money. You need to add too much to the other two systems mentioned to get a turn key system.

I respect the STS times people are posting up. That STS kit can make some very good power. The underbed airfilter is hard to accept, but the real issue looks to be the oil return pump they have. The oil pump does not look like a good reliable item from what I've read. That makes me feel all the more that I made the right choice with my Radix.

The Radix will do very well on the SS and not give you any issues with reliability Tex and Whitt have both pushed their systems farther than the average guy would so the Radix is quite capable of impressive power. I'm still pushing mine farther, too, to see if I can "own" the heavy truck category around these parts!

Thanks for the info. Where is the best place to buy a Radix? Price and service?

You are going to tell me that $6,000-7,000 is worth the money???
Especially if I'm already running a 14.3 in my VHO with just a Nelson tune and a Volant CAI.
8/10ths of a sec not worth that much money.
Hell, with 2600 stall converter, vette servos, Transgo shift kit, Caltracs, and some drag radials, I'll be getting close to that 13.5.
I just don't see that much money being worth it unless your gaining 1-1/2 to 2 secs in the 1/4.

Gains of 1.5 - 1.75 seconds in the 1/4 are normal for the Radix. I guess if you want to spend the money and go through all of that work insted of 6 hours to install the system then maybe that is the better way for you.

The base kit dropped my H2 from a 17.7 stock (tested by the big car mags) to a 15.0.

That was before I tuned it (HP Tuner $500 for H2 and my GTO) and swapped a pulley (less than $100 from Nelson) and dropped to 14.6. I'd say those results were worth it.
