k guys the day has FINALLY come! im going to start the engine swap!! im gonna start here in about an hour or so. so i will keep you guys updated whenever i can!!

Way cool, take pictures and step by step write ups as you over come any issues.

Gear wrenches are a must for the upper trans bolts. I also used the engine lift plate that bolts to the valley cover. That this works great. I would recommend it to anyone.

yeah lots of luck. I remember the day I drove home my 4.8 after driving a 97 4.3 for about a yr.. Worlds of difference. Hope its all u expect

ok guys, just finished up for the night. didnt get AS much done as i wanted to get done but didnt really start on it til about 830 so i figure we got a decent amount done in two and half hours.

tonight we just drained all the coolant, took all the hoses off, disconnected the harness and AC system.

all in all its pretty straight forward so far. and so far no problems that i can see or should be

plan for tomorrow:

will be getting up early to get the exhaust off, disconnect the tranny and TC bolts and the frame mount bolts. then go pick up an engine hoist, pull the 6 bangger and drop in the 5.3
