That would suck seeing as how I just sold a truck TB. The only way I could see that being true was if it had to do with the opposite opening of the blade, other than that 90mm is 90mm no matter how you measure it.

Would the tbss intake be any better than the ls6 intake?I know the ls6 cost more.Just curious which of the 2 intakes are better $ per hp.

I just swear I remember reading something on a TBSS board about swapping out their factory TB for a car 90mm TB and losing power... something about the blade sweeping the wrong direction and the "vanes" around the edge of the TB swirling the air correctly in relation to the throat angle of the intake manifold. I think the consensus was keep the factory TB if N/A and only use a car TB if in an FI application because it has the stronger springs/motor so it doesn't go into reduced power mode since the TBSS TB is weak and the blade moves too easily with lots of airflow. I know that last part is true though because I have ran into it myself many times and the switched to a car TB to fix the issue. Hell now I am going to go search for that.

I got to thinking about this last night then looked into the "throat" of the intake. The opening to the runners is in the top of the tube shaped thing in the intake, and with the blade opening oposite than normal its just going to create more of a barrier for airflow. I wonder how an ls2 car or an edelbrock pro-flow intake would work?Oh well lesson learned. Back to ebay for this throttle body unless anybody here needs it.

The only part number I can find on these intakes is 12580420 thats good number to the SSR, All V8 Trailblazers 6.0 and 5.3 and works on the new body trucks and suv's with 5.3's. I really have seen no proof on there being to different intakes except for the speculation on one looking wider in a picture than another in a different picture. Btw if the TBSS intake was any wider than my flexfuel motor one I have the fuel rails wouldn't fit over it.

FWIW...the Pontiac Grand Am Prototype class originally used the LS6 intake manifold, but switched to the TBSS after they picked around 10HP with it over the LS6. They now use the FAST LSX-RT (truck) intake.

I thought that I saw a comparo somewhere where the TBSS intake outperformed the LS6 intake across the board?
