Default basic wire up for fans

i've been wanting to put electric fans on my truck, but keep getting told i need a relay? well i can care less if the fans turn on by themself. i mean i want to be able to just wire them up to a toggle switch and have them on when "i" flip the switch. Can't i just wire them up to a toggle switch as if they were fog lamps? Also how can i get off the factory fan without using the fan tool? seems no one here in this town has what i'm requiring.

you run the risk and high probability of melting the switch due to the high current draw of the fans... This is where a relay comes in, it helps prevent switch melting...

Sure, but it will be a lot of amps without a relay. A simple temp probe or harness might be better/easier in the long run.

Use a big wrench and a hammer to get the clutch fan off. A pipe wrench or adjustable works. I ended up using a 18inch cheapie adjustable one from harbor freight and a fist maul.

Use the search function on the forum. I'm sure there's a few write-ups with pictures just in the gm engine/exhaust section.
