Question AutoMeter Tach install

With the new cam the stock tachometer is slower than ever. I like to keep an eye on the revs so I bought a autometer 5in tach with shift light. I need to know where to tie in the pick up for the new tach and shift light. On the old school v8/v6s there was a tach pickup wire. Is there a wire like that on the new motors and where can it be found?

Good question. I, too, need to know before my tach gets here.

there is a white wire that ties into the cluster(behind the gauges). that is the most comon place(only place i know of) to get a tach signal. i have had a hard time with some things hooking up there though. give it a try and if you have problems i might have some ideas for you but i bet it works.

Yea just tap into the white wire that runs into the stock guage cluster. But make sure you still keep the stock tach/white wire connected to the cluster or it wont work.
An your tack should have setting on the back, an that should be set up for a 4 cylinder vehicle.
Thats what worked for me

That white wire should also be at the PCM, but I dont have a diagram in front of me to tell ya which pin it is. Might be easier to hook up to there.
