Default ASM long tubes rusting??

I have a set of the asm long tube headers that are ceramic coated and they are rusting pretty bad. they are less than a year old and have less than 4k miles on them. Has any one had this problem with theirs??

I've had mine on for over a year and No rust problems. How did you install them? Did they have any surface marr's / scratches? If so, the coating in some area's could have been scratched off allowing for rusting to occur.

I found the best way to install these is by keeping them in the bubble wrap that they came shipped in, dropping them into place/ bolting them up. Then finally remove the bubble wrap after it is secure. The end product should be a mint set of mounted headers.

I'm not saying this is necessarily the case with your headers, you may have just gotten a bad set as far as coating goes. I've heard a few people say that their's have gotten a little rust starting to accumulate, especially around the collectors.

If you don't mind, post some pics and we'l try to get some others with comparisons on here. That should determine whether you got a bad set etc.

The weather for us north-east guys is the problem. You guys in nice sunny Texas and Louisianna don't suffer from the same weather as we do. That is my thought.

i know the rust is not from being scratched thats for sure and i have never drove the truck on salty roads in the winter. i am thinking its a bad coating. i know the flanges are rusting bad, the bolts were rusted so bad when i removed them they broke.

No rust on mine after 3 yrs and nearly a 100k on them. Maybe ASM will step up with a warrenty exchange.
Mine have not gone 12's though.

It sounds like it could be a coating problem but, BADMOFO brings up a good point about the weather. You saw what my engine bay looked like. My ASP pulley is no longer black, it's rust colored. Hell, even my stainless Dynatech headers are rusted all to hell(surface rust I guess).

Maybe just give ASM a call and see what they'll do, can't hurt.
