I remember reading in the internal engine forum that they suggested 6.1" rods to use with the crank and that being all they made since that was the actual factory replacement rod for the LS1.

yes, i think the 6.125 rods are new. seth(cmotorsports) was quoteing me a price of something like $1400-$1500 for the eagle crank and 6.125 eagle ls1 rods, said they were brand new.

Am i wrong for thinking i can pay retail $1900 for an eagle stroker rotating assembly kit and spend another $400 at my local machine shop and have a killer shortblock using my 6.0?

Gonz- I think it will cost you a little more than that. It depends on what you have done to the block, and how much you do yourself. I want you to try it, and if all works well for you, I'll follow your lead.

No matter, the torque produced behind a good 408 would be awesome in a truck.

OK, guy's let me do some explaining for you and hopefully clear some things up on the rod issue.
Eagle does not make a on-center LS1 connecting rod. They do make a 6.100" rod for the LS1 engines but, it still is a SBC offset rod. Just the length is correct. That is where the confusion sets in. Now the only people that I know make LS1 on center rods are, Callies, Carillo, GRP. These are LS1 specific rods and length's can be made in just about in size you want. Except for the Callies which are only available in 6.125 as of right now.
Now you can run the SBC rods in theses engines with no problems. In the high HP application I would say that you should run the LS1 on center stuff, but in these engines you will be fine with the SBC rods. Most guy's that have replaced their rods on this board use SBC rods. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask them. To upgrade the rods to a Callies you would be looking at about a $300-350.00 increase.

Thanks

OK ... knowing parish's plans (monster cam, huge turbo, nice wollared out heads, and some juice on top of all that), would you still want to sell it with the SBC rods? I see your reasoning for it, don't get me wrong.

What about something like I would do, a moderate cam, stage2 heads, low compression, and lots of boost (12-14psi)?

I'm just trying to gather what you would call high HP. I would probably get the LS1 rods if I were in the checkout line anyways, I just want to get an idea of how safe the SBC rods are in the ls1's.

hey chris, not that it matters but i was told eagle JUST came out with these 6.125 on center ls1 rods. i could have been misinformed but maybe you just dont know about they yet

i dont know about the other guys by i will be looking for high horse power, 15+psi 409 and maybe a little nitrous if i get that far. what parts would you recomend for what i have in mind?

edit.. i just asked about those eagle rods and was told the same thing that Chris is saying, "not on center" but listed and made for ls1's

i want to go with whatever set up has the best chance at handeling 1000+fwhp.
