I have an 04 2500hd gas burner that im replacing the engine in. Atk's engine on rock auto has caught my attention, im just looking for some feedback from people who have used ATK engines in the past. Would you guys recommend Atk or should i steer clear?

I had one of their HP93's for a couple of years. Never had an issue with it. Made great torque and power everywhere.

Their HP line is a lot different than their everyday reman side.

A basic reman should be a usable engine, not one that comes out of the plastic knocking.
Are you saying that there are two different ATK's? Because again I am unfamiliar - have not dealt with them.

Yes, there are 2 lines of ATK engines. Their basic reman’s and their HP line.

OK, so if it's the same company then I would say that does not speak well of them in any way. A basic reman should not be defective brand new. Mistakes happen, I get it, but the guy's description of the first one sounds like a bargain basement pile of crap and it got warrantied with one that was even worse, then they denied him a warranty altogether. It looks like they got rooked mostly by the supplier the engine was purchased through, so mistakes were made in the evidence-gathering phase, (instructed by the supplier to "just pull the engine out and send it") but really - two bad engines in a row is not what I would accept from any builder.

A lot of customers should not be doing engine installs... and a lot of "repair shops" shouldn't be doing them either.
I take these online accounts of what happens with a grain of salt nowdays.

OP asked for opinions on a forum, that's what I linked to...you can believe the good, you can believe the bad, or you can read 'em all and judge for yourself.
