Everyone that is S/C seems to have a Whipple. Is there any reason that no one seems to run the Vortech system? Is it roots vs. centrifugal? Just wondering because I really like the looks of the Vortech kit.

i dont think i have seen anybody running the votech kit, but i think it may be a good competitor. the only reason people always run the whipple or magnacharger is because of the low end torque gains they produce. which could be negated with a nicely matched stall

Anyway, I'd like to hear the responses on this topic......

My first choice was Vortech but I have an '02 and it was 'charged by the 2nd week of Oct 01. Whipple was the only company on the market who told me they had a kit available for the '02 at the time (come to find out, after I put it on, they didn't) I sometimes sit around and wonder "what if" but I am happy with the Whipple-I think it is more suited to the trucks' characteristics-towing, etc. I think if you were building a race oriented truck the centrifical might be better but for an everyday driver the Whipple or Eaton would be hard to beat.

Well for what it's worth my Procharger is a tonne of fun to drive with a yank 3000 stall it's a whole lot better in the bottom end i can see about 3.5 psi if i launch hard this climbs real fast there after much more and the rear ends all over the place with my stock generals
The only thing i can complain about it the engineering of the kit they should have spent some more time on it there is a lot of room for improvement too the intake placement and the use of the stock intake tube really sucks
I like that fact there is no piggy back computer to the system just a F.M.U. not to mention some good power 366 rwhp and 367rwtq stock dyno
i dunno what the whipples are laying down stock

The Vortech kit looked pretty cool, but i went with the time proven Eaton Roots type s/c. for daily driving id go with the screw type( Whipple) or an Eaton Type (Magnacharger). With any s/c expect trans trouble if you drive like a nut, the 4l60 cant handle the tq. also match the s/c with a nice stall converter......... Enjoy your TQM Issues your gonna have.

I have a 2001 chevy 5.3 with vortech s/c i love it. It was easy to install it looks good. With the plumbing they send it gets about 6lbs, a few improvments you can get 10lbs of boost. Also it comes with super chips tuning for 6lbs boost. My best run on street tires,s/c, headers,3" exhaust,410 gears, eaton posi.13.6 101mph 1/4.
