Default Is anyone running SLP's rocker arms?

I was thinking about purchasing SLP's 1.85:1 rocker arms with the LS-6 springs. How will it effect the current stock cam in the truck (2000 Silverado with the 5.3) I heard that the stock cam is very tiny. I am currently running a Superchips program and I was wondering if I would have to run a custom program, and also how much more power would I make?

You wouldn't need a custom tune. It would probably make 5-8rwhp IMHO. I say save your money and do a cam swap All it really does is raise the lift on the stock cam. If you get a cam (like mine) with at least .530/.530 lift it would have more lift than you would have with the stock cam + the SLP rockers and it would be able to feel it alot more. You could also use the left over money from buying the cam to get some springs. Just a thought...

I've run them in my 5.3 Tahoe for about a year,as far as performance they give about 10 rwhp peak increase, that can be felt from about 3500 rpm up.The only down side is that you'll probably want to replace them when you decide to change camshafts.I experienced no loss of lowend power.

My experience with SLP rockers is in a Radix supercharged Tahoe,so your experience might be a little different. For the amount of time and money involved I would pop for a cam.You could gain 30-40rwhp with a cam and tuning.

What kind of power would you expect from LS-1 hot cam kit (219/228 exhaust) @.050, .525 intake / .525 exhaust, would I have to buy stronger rods, rockers, and retainers. How much is the average price to install a cam?

I would go with a 212/218 Compcam with a 5.3,it will make as much or more power than a GM hotcam, with a lot better road manners.Figure about $650-$700 if you install it yourself.

Don't waste your money on them. Get a cam and springs for the same money or less.
