The LS6 cam won't have more lope. It will make it sound smoother. The z06 vette was designed to compete with the likes of lambo and ferrari but be affordable. So they gave it a smoother sounding cam to compete with the smoothing idling but roaring engines put in the lambos and ferraris.

All LSX engines sound pretty much the same from the 4.8 to the 7.0L.

If you want lope then call Comp or lunati or TSP and tell them what you want. They won't steer you wrong. As long as you stay under .580 lift then the truck will drive just like it is stock and you won't have to worry about reliability. These LSx engines are pretty stout.

I read here somewhere that the ls6 cam can add up to 31 to 28hp. Is this true

I don't think it's quite that much but anywhere in the 20-30hp range shouldn't be unexpected.

Just remember the vette is a lot lighter than your truck so it's powerband is up there in the rpms. Your truck may feel kinda like a dog from a stop but she should sing a pretty tune after 3k rpms on up to about 6.5kr rpms.
