Anyone launch in autotrac?
#2
i have been launching in auto4wd for awhile, so far the xfercase is ok but i did have to go into the front diff and replace a couple of bearings, at my current power level i think that this problem wasn't caused be the 4wd launches, i think it was there just waiting to happen.
in auto 4wd it leaves hard, turns 3 tired over for about 1', big tex told me with the N20 he is running that he is geting the back to turn over in auto4wd so he is overcoming the clutch or whatever is in there so he just runs it in 4wd not auto4wd now. so far my best 60'times are in the 1.9x
i am going to step it up a notch(heads ans cam or N2O) soon, hoping to see some high 12's so i may be finding the next weak link soon.
have you worked on your tranny? i think it will go before the xfer case or the diferentials, mine did.

All I've done is a shift it and had the line pressure raised by Ed wright. Sooner or later I plan on going through it with level 10 or raptor parts.

I think Autotrac works pretty well - to a point. Normally, autotrac works just fine. Even w/ the whipple, it would hold pretty firm. But on the juice, it wouldn't hold and I'd get 2.4 second 60' times. If I locked it in 4HI before I hit the line, My 60' times dropped to 1.9s.
That is with the stock converter and spraying 100 off the line. Not the smartest thing to do, but its effective. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

i would say that you wont hurt it by pressing the 2wd button but i doubt it would disengauge while under heavy acceleration, i bet it wont release untill you let go of the gas. try the autotract first and if that doesn't work hit the 4wd, i don't think i would want to worry about hitting that button while racing, it is all i can do to watch my fuel presure gauge and the track and the other guy and the finish line and atap and a good light.....

I tried to switch it once, but who knows if it ever came out of 4HI or not. So most of the time, I just leave it in 4HI until the finish and switch 2 2 HI before I make the turn off the track.

I tried once to launch in Auto4. After the launch I pushed the 2HI button to see what would happen. The truck stayed in Auto4 until the 1-2 shift and then it switched back to 2HI. So yeah, it won't come out of Auto4 under WOT until the shift.
