Default anyone has a BBK throttle body?

I am thinking about buying a BBK throttle body. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about them? I believe it is a little bigger and maybe polished. I don't know if it is worth $400 though.

I have one and like it. I could feel a seat-of-the-pants change in performance. To get that you need a significant HP change. I have the typical sticking problem you read about in other threads and need to lightly sand/file the edges of the throttle plate but haven't yet. If you are patient you can get one off of ebay very reasonably priced. There are a couple other sources that rework OEM models with what sounds like good success. They tend to be more popular due the fact that cost less. The BBK is 80mm. I am not sure what the OEM size is. I am sure someone will post a reply with the link those threads.

The stock is about 77mm I believe. That is also the size of the hole in the stock intake.

Those are about $140.

I can see using an 80mm with forced induction or big cubes. Most seem to be okay with just a ported stocker.

if money wasn't an issue, wouldn't the BBK be better plus easier so I don't have to loose my truck for a week or so to get it ported? or do I port it myself? What is all of this ported business about? I am also eventually going to put a 150+ nos system after I do my rebuild in a year. So would it just be better to get the BBK? Please comment.

Ken, I think they must be smaller on the Vortech 350's vs the 4.8-6.0 ones.

Y2K, they seem to be in good standing with the LS1 guys over on that www.ls1.com site. I have read only positive things about them there.

$140 ported or $400 BBK... like I said, unless you have internal mods you will be fine with a ported stocker. I can put that extra $360 towards something else.

Coonass... No, there is no down time. You mail the $140+core charge to Shaner. They send you a ported TB. You swap them, enjoy the gains, and mail your old one back for the core charge. Pretty easy.
