ls1 stock cam in a 4.8
I know its been asked but I couldnt find it.
Would a stock ls1 5.7L (1999) cam into a 4.8L (2001) worth the trouble or money. I can pick up the for next to nothing. The cam has 40,000 on it my truck has 20,000. Do I need to change anything else to run this cam??
Im thinking NO, but its worth asking...

Re: ls1 stock cam in a 4.8
If it did anything it wouldnt be much.
I got this quote from another thread a while back.
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> I tried the 201/212/500/500/119.5 (factory ls1 cam) in my 5.3 and it sucked.
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Note that this was in a 5.3, so it might be a little diffrent in a 4.8. But I wouldnt think it would be that much.
Heres a link to the thread Old Thread
Hope this helps

A waste of time. If the cam was worth keeping, it would still be in that LS1 ride wouldn't it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
If you are gonna do a cam swap, get something like a 208/214 or a 214/220 114lsa. You will then notice a power gain and not want to punch yourself for wasting so much money installing another stock cam.
