Default Anyone familiar with 6 pinion planetaries for a 4L60E?

I know that 4 pinions are stock and most hi-po rebuilds use 5 pinion planetaries, but I was just informed by the shop who is going to do my rebuild that he is going to install 6 pinion planetaries in my build. Anyone ever heard of these, or should I run fast and far from this shop? Just a novice at trannies trying to get my money's worth.

ive never heard of 6 pinion planataries. i do know i heard someone mention them. he was counting the outer gear and the 5 pinions to come up with that. i would check into that some more. they arent selling them on any of the sites yet either.

i'd ask for some proof. i've never heard of them and don't think there is room to make them a 6 pinion set. i think 6 would weaken the set instead of making it stronger.

Well, OK, now I don't feel so bad for asking, as I had never heard of them before either. This discussion was on Friday late afternoon, and maybe this guy was A) really tired (everyone around here is ragged out because of the direct hit we all took from Hurricane Ivan) and just thinking Ford when talking GM or B) he was testing my knowledge level (which probably doesn't seem too high since I didn't balk at the mention of a 6 pinion, but I did ask him to repeat it back to me). Either way, I am going to do a bit more investigating on Monday. Thanks for the help guys!
