Thanks Tom! Looks like the 8.1 is just a high torque engine and not much on performance. I don't know how CMNTMXR57 almost kept up with a Mustang if these trucks only run in the 16s stock. And his is a 4 x 4 which is heavier yet. A stock Mustang will run a high 14 or better.

Your 11.5 is the same or slightly better mileage as my 5.9 Dodge.

As I have said, I want a truck that is not made!

The only other problem I've had with the truck is that something fell off inside the driver's side door and rattles inside it each time I close it.

There's a TSB for this too. The bolts that hold the power window motor or some part of it come loose.

If the 8.1 truck had the same weight as the 5.3 it would have ran almost a second faster. The girl that works here drove my 8.1 last week. She just drove it normal (well... her normal, not my normal ) and when she got out she said it felt like it had alot more torque than the supercharged 6.0.

graygmc,

In no way was I casting doubt in CMNTMXR57 statement about keeping up with a Mustang. I was putting more doubt on Motor Trends test results.

Brooke (99RedHawk) ran a low 16 almost(K & N I believe) stock with his 2500HD 4X4 crew cab 6.0 at over 6000 pounds. I feel an 8.1 should do better than a 16.6.

My bad Larry, I took it the wrong way.

Wayyy to many people here know me personally including Zbass for me to lie.

Tom, I wasn't aware of that TSB. I was busy concentrating on powertrain ones.

Lane...it's TSB #00-08-64-003

at least that is the last known reference # I have for it. Just checked and they state that it's a loose window regulator bolt or bolts.
