Has anybody explored the idea of intercooling via the A/C system?

well a chiller is used on alot of offshore power boats. it's basicly the same as the inner cooler on the radix except on the boats it works off the raw bay(ocean) water.you can put them on old style engines.that is what i have on my pro street car but we have a seperat pump and heat exchanger.if that is what your talkin about.oh and they are supposidly doing that on the new ford l's where it works off the ac for abreif time to up the hp another 75 hp or so.

 

I think this is how it works:
You run your heat exchanger inside a what is basically a refrigerator. That really cools down the liquid.
There was a post on here a while back when parish was wondering how to make his intercooler liquid really cold. I think it had someone with that setup in it as a link.

 

There is talk of this set up going on the new L. I have seen the testing and it is only good for short bursts.

I was goping to let a couple of replys build up before I looked at it.

I've thought about a way to run the A/C through the base of the radix. I've come to the conclusion that the pieces that are there wouldn't stand up to near the pressure the A/C would put out on the high side, which is the cooling side. I thought that maybe you could replace what's there in the base already with an actual air conditioning part made for the high pressure, but that would be lots of work and I'm not sure I wanna take that chance on it just yet.

That would require loosing my AC and hooking it up so it went directly to the blower. Here in TX, that isn't an option on a daily driver.

 

the one sight has a set-up that runs both zones, 1 zone being the inside of the truck, zone 2 being the intercooler, kind of an oversimplification.
