I've never said that the headers are raspy...
The HEADERS are not raspy, my Flowmaster muffler is, lol.
It sounded great with stock manifolds and cats.

Your choice in headers isn't going to determine how raspy or un-raspy the truck will sound...not enough to tell a difference anyway. The exhaust system will determine that. Any headers are going to amplify whatever "raspiness" that your present manifolds and cats are now keeping quiet.

My Camaro sounded great with a Borla catback, stock exhaust manifolds and cats....I swapped on a set of JetHot brand longtubes and it was obnoxious to say the least. Swapped to a Magnaflow catback, same shitty sound. Swapped back to a stock catback, and it sounded pretty nice. Finally swapped on an SLP "Dual=Dual" catback, and it sounded great, with zero rasp.

Same car (in all but 1st vid), different exhausts...a car you could barely even hear before the header swap:

Stock cam, stock manifolds, stock cats, stock SS catback:

Same stock cam, same stock catback, 1-3/4" longtubes and ORY pipe

Baby cam, stock catback, longtubes, ORY:

same as above, but single in/single out 3" "race" muffler:

Same as above, but w/SLP dual/dual muffler (before I got the correct tips, and what I finally settled on):

and just for the helluvit, two WOT blasts, one through the SLP dual/dual and one with an open cutout:

Just for general info, while it sounded differently with each different setup, it never lost power, or picked up power with ANY setup...in fact, ran same numbers with open cutout. I wish there was a similar to the SLP muffler available for my truck.

LOUDEST doesn't necessarily equal BEST. For me, the quietest exhaust ran just as well as open exhaust.

hey rel3rd.... is that a "step-down" band clamp made for a slip fitting? It looks like its bigger on the glass pack part and smaller on the exhaust part... I have never seen a step-down band clamp before.

they are nearly the same price from summit racing... since I will likely be getting that 3' glass pack as a resonator, I will probably end up just scooping 6 of those lap joint clamps
