Default Another Header Question

What is the purpose of the crossover connections between 2 of the tubes on the ASM and TOGs? Note that different tubes are involved in each case. See pics on 5.3L exhaust page here: http://www.tbyrne.com/truckcatalog.html

I think that is the AIR connection. That tube just goes to a flange, not to the other pipes. The Air Injection Reactor put air into the exhaust for better catalytic convertor performance.

That tube w/flange is there for trucks that have an EGR.

If you look at the TOGs the 2 forward tubes appear to be notched and welded together to form an X where they cross. On the ASMs there is a smaller tube welded between the forwardmost and 3rd tube back. I know what you mean by EGR/AIR connections and I see that on the TOGs but that's not what I'm referring to. Don't like the EGR thing either if they all come with that.

Anybody have these on a 2004 or newer?

Don't let the picture play tricks with your eyes. What you see on the ASM header is the EGR connection protruding from the #6 primary. On the TOG, this same tube is protruding from the #4 primary. The connection protruding from the top of the #2 primary, on the TOG, is possibly some other emission connection - but I have never seen this on any aftermarket header - could be a prototype of some sort.

D-uh. How come now I can see flanges instead of welds? Time to get my eyes checked again.
