another e fan thread- need some help

Default another e fan thread- need some help

sorry guys but ive been searching for awhile now and cant find anything on keeping the pulley from spinning. people say leave the belt on so i did but when i go to apply pressure with my wrench the belt doesnt keep it from spinning. anyone have any tricks on keeping the pulley in place so i can remove my fan clutch

tap the nut on the correct side of one of the flats with a punch and hammer

I took a towel and wrapped it around the fan to secure it. Then I took a huge wrench I bought at harbor freight and took baseball swings at it with a hammer. Came right off.

btw, efans really aren't worth all the hassle in my experience.

so you held the fan is place but how did you keep the water pump pulley from spinning. everytime i try to wrench off the nut all my pulleys rotate

You need to BLAST the wrench with a hammer. It needs to be a quick, massive force. Also, douse the nut in PB blaster.
