AMW Catch can
#1
I installed this the other day and I was very impressed with the kit. I got in on the GP they had not too long ago for $80 with free shipping. While you can spend much less and make a catch can on your own from hardware store, I still think you're missing out a little compared to the AMW kit. I mounted mine on the fuse box housing since it was the only spot that appeared to be ideal for mounting. I may go back and reinforce it some on the back side in order to make it a little more secure. I ended up leaving in the old PCV valve since the dealer was out of the new ones and I'll swap them out in a week or so. I plan to have some pictures this afternoon and I am going to check the oil level at 500 miles just to check and see how much it is filtering out of the PCV system, with the new and the old PCV valves.
I'm not all that sure how much difference it may have made on it's own, but after installing the catch can and starting the truck, it ran smoother than it has in a very long time and continues to do so. I need to get in and clean my TB and I think that all my idle problems I had before in the past will be solved since the catch can is installed.
I recommend this as a mod for anyone that wants to keep the oil out of their intake from the PCV. It took about 20 min. to install and in my opinion it is more than worth the $80 after seeing the workmanship they put into making the can and sending you everything you'll need to complete the install.

Good deal! I got mine the other week and hopefully I'll get around to doing it some evening this week.
I was definatley impressed with the quality and size.
How about some pics? I was planning on mounting mine to the firewall, but maybe you're onto something? I hate the thought of driiling holes in the old girl.

I'll get the pictures taken and posted up during my lunch break.
I looked at the firewall as a place to mount mine as well, but when you hold it up with the mount you can't really find a spot that is flat and will leave the can vertical. I also wasn't too thrilled about drilling into the firewall as it is hard to tell if you're going to be drilling into anything important on the other side.
I just removed the fender bracket on the drivers side and removed the plastic housing of the fuse box after marking a line for the bracket to be mounted at. I then drilled my two holes and went back to double check the clearance with the wire bundles under the fuse panel. Everything looked good so I went a head and finished mounting it all. I also wrapped a little electrical tape around the open tips of the screws to keep any wires from rubbing on them and causing a short. I never saw anyway the wires would hit the screws, but it was a, just in case, type thing. Later on I'll put some rubber tips over them or something that should work better than the tape.
After putting the housing back around the fuse box I made sure I had enough hose and finished routing the hoses which left me with about 6 inches left over. I could have used a little more slack in mine, but I wanted to make sure they wouldn't move around and touch anything hot while driving.
Check back around noon or 1:00 today for pictures...

There are a few posts on here if you want some more detail, but they filter out the oil that gets into the PCV system and eventually into the intake and it all goes from there. So using a catch can, catches the oil, and prevents it from getting into the intake of the vehicle where it is burnt and causes a number of different issues.
