Default Aluminum 5.3

Ok guys, I just bought an aluminum 5.3 shortblock for cheap. Guy thought it was a regular cast '07, it's not. I will be taking it completely apart so question is can how hard is it to swap reluctor wheels? And what would I need to swap to put this in my '07 Tahoe. I was gonna freshen up this shortblock and put my top end on it etc...

What's the casting on it? You can find out exactly what it is with it.

It has 12572014 on rear and 52072 on front. It has the flat top pistons with cross on them. Had 799 heads the guy said. I have Googled and haven't came up anything other l33 guess because of pistons. And gray sensor so 24x

No, You need the correct timing gear on the camshaft as well as the front cover with a sensor.

After that you will have to figure out what you want to do with the knock sensors...

Gen 3 such as the L33 have them in the center valley under the intake.

Gen 4 have them on the side of the block.
These blocks have a boss cast in them specifically for the knock sensors whereas the Gen 3 usually does not.

So I'm hoping I can just tap block and put knock sensors in? Obviously I'm new to this.

The Gen 4 blocks have a provision cast into the block for this.

Here is a good comparison of the 2 different blocks.

It can be made to work for what your trying to do. You just have to be creative.
