Alt making a slight whine?
#1
Okay I just tossed in a 130A right? Well I go to test it and it has a whine to it, similar to a light supercharger.
Is this okay or is my alternator bad? It makes full voltage and stuff as well as no lights are on.
Maybe it has to break in a bit first as it is so new?
Help me with my paranoia...

It is caused by the underdrive pulley. It is slowing down the powersteering, which is taking away 2-3 hp. The whistling sound you hear is the 4 way catalytic converters. They do not work well with a HO alternator. Does that sound familiar?
