Default alittle lifter noise

Hey guys, I just bought a 2005 avalanche for the wife. It had a bad lifter, and damaged the cam. So I figured I'd go ahead and replace the lifters, cam and do a head job. I used 17122490 lifter, lq9 cam, minor port job, ls6 valve springs, milled .020. I used the stock 7.4 push rods. I think I should of used the 7.35s. The noise is not bad at all. slight sewing machine sound. I just thought I'd ask you guys, to see what you think...

If it I'd minor noise a little thicker oil will probably take care of it.

Sounds like the new lifter height balanced out with your milling. If you don't have a Comp Cams pushrod checker, you can use this to verify:

From Shane (XtraCajunSS) of Thunder Racing:

Put a stock 7.400 pushrod in and get the lifter on the base circle of the cam. I use the EO/IC method (exhaust opening/intake closing.) Tighten the rocker down until you are at zero lash (all slack in the rocker is gone but the pushrod still spins freely.) Set your torque wrench to 22 lb./ft. and count the number of turns it takes to achieve full torque. You are looking for between 1 and 1 1/2 turns. 1 full turn is ~.047" so if you get 3/4 of a turn you need a .025" longer pushrod to get in range. If you get 2 turns, you'd need at least .025" shorter to get in range. These specs are with stock type lifters.

Thanks Rick, that sounds like it would work nicely. I have a preload checker, Ill try both ways just to be shure.
