Default Air Intake - kits versus new tube

Seems like I read somewhere that the new chevy trucks air intake system is good it is just that the tube or routing could be better. Would this be a fair or correct statement?

If so, would it make sense to just get a new tube like Airaid sells and a quality filter in lieu of a new CAI kit? Or would you be better off getting a full kit?

If you think just getting a new tube would be just as good, is there other manu. that sell tube kits like Airraid? If so, please let me know.

Also, would it make any sense or help any to install a throttle body spacer along with the CAI tube mod or kit?

Thanks.

I would save money on the spacer, gains, if any at all, would be minor, spacers dont really do anything for our fuel injected trucks

buy the air raid tube, and cut the bottom of the stock airbox out for more flow. drop in a high performance filter like k&n, airraid, etc. should save u a decent amount over the 300 kit and perform just as well

+1, yeah, what he said. I started with a k&n drop in, then went with the airaid mit tube & that made a big difference. Once you install it & hear it at WOT, you'll find your right foot gets a lot heavier.

OKay so would the Airraid MIT be a waist of money in regards to a little better performance due to better airflow?

Or would it be a good mod for the engine in regards to a little better performance and better for the engine due to better airflow?

I wouldn't say it's a waste, I paid like $110 for mine. What's a waste is paying $300-400for a complete cold air kit

I don't know about that but I went with the Airaid Jr kit (Airaid MIT plus high-flow SynthaMax oil-free air filter) and I'm happy. You can get the Jr on Summit for $170 and it had free shipping last time I looked.
