Default air compressor noise behind motor

2005 Yukon built motor trans turbo ext sounds like a air compressor pumping up behind the motor maybe on frame rail or in trans. not a real loud noise but very annoying. maybe some kind of pump. comes and goes, almost never on when you first start it. anybody with any ideas thanks

Might be the vacuum booster on the brake booster. Does it have a big cam in it?

Sounds to me like exhaust hitting the body or frame somewhere.

Don't those have a air suspension setup kinda deal. (that sounds intelligent) My mother has a 2002 Denali and it does something like you explained. Yeah actually now I see you say it does it in park. I am quite confident that is what you are hearing.

i have pacesetter longtubes, and i get a sort of "aircompresssor" tick when it idles. no gasket leaks, and it does it with the exhaust cutout or closed through 2 mufflers. i think it just boils down to more mods, more noises.

then again, you might be hearing the infamous slapping piston. no worries there either. just anoying as hell!
