If i were to take off my exhaust and just run a 3" from the flange at the back of the Y to infront of the pass side rear tire and put to a tip on it with no muffler, what would the advantages and disadvantages be?

U wont notice much of a difference if u still have stock manifolds and cats. I actually think my truck sounded better and was a little quicker without a muffler when it was stock. If u do LTs ur gonna need a muffler without cats.

and im gonna go LT and no cats with a nice muffler sooner or later, but for now i was just gonna come off the Y pipe with some 2 anda half or 3 inch and take it to a tip infront of the pass side rear tire

but with backpressure.flow and what ever issues there is, im just curious to what positives and negative there is.. mainly curious about the negatives.

about the no muffler issue. U wont really have any issues on the negative side other than back pressure noise. It sounds like ur bending an aluminum sheet and smacking it around under the truck

I'd imagin strait pipe would choke it up. There wouldn't be enough back pressure.


When I Dyno'd i got 280rwhp with LT's FLT4, 3" pipe, Borla xr1 and a tune.
There was another truck there with a cam larger than what i have now, Tune, straight pipe and nitrous.
He dyno'd something like 236rwhp without the spray. Granted, his tune could have been way off.
If it's just temporary tho why bother asking. Just do what you have to do until you get what you need. But I'd just stay with what you have until your ready for a full exhaust.
