Default Advancing cam timing on stock cam??

This may come across as a stupid question, but I gotta ask. Would it benifit me any to advance or retard my stock cam timing when I build the motor? Or can it even be done. Or is that somthing just best left alone with the stock cam??

Advancing the cam's going to bring the powerband down. I wouldn't do that with the stocker.

If anything, I'd retard it a few degrees for some more topend pull on the stock cam OR get a Z06 cam (I like the '01 better) and advance it +4*...but it's got -2* ground into it from my memory...so +6* may be better.

You can't change the timng with stock parts. You'll have to install and adjustable timing set for that.
