I read on a website that if you have street tires, don't go through the water in the staging lanes. It said something like if you do it may affect your time or something. It did say you should only go through it if you have slicks or a certain kind of drag radial.
When I went to the track a few weeks ago, I went through the water with my Cooper Discoverer HTs. Could that have affected my time?

Did you do a burnout? That is what the water is there for...
If you did not, it could have effected your time because you tires would be a little slick. It's just like driving in the rain <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

When u do a burnout with street tires go around the water box and spin them a little to dust them of and get them warm. If you do a big burnout on them u are just wasting tread life because if they are hot they are slick. On the other hand DR's or slicks are sticky when hot. It is good to drive around the water box and back up to it and get your tires wet to do a burnout. When you drive through it your front tires tread water up to the light and may get your rear tires wet.
