Default 99 silverado 4.3 to gen1 v8 swap

I have a 99 silverado (new body style) with a nv3500 5 speed manual transmission. Engine blocked is cracked. I want to install a gen 1 350 I have as it is just sitting in the shop. It also seems like it may be easier to mate to the 5 speed tranny as it looks that I need some special parts to mate it to a gen3 or newer. I will be carbing the v6 as it's already missing some parts etc.

The big question I have is are there any engine mounts that will mate up? I can't use the v8 mounts of the same year as they are wrong for the v8 I'm putting in. 97 was the last year of the old sbc right? Are those mounts different? Maybe mounts would have to be custom welded or maybe I need metal plates that set the engine forward....Can anyone help?

Sorry to hear about your luck with motor bud, but if I was in your shoes I would sell your old gen1 sbc, and use the money to fund a ls swap. You will be much happier in the long run. And it might cost you more money to down grade to an older motor then to install a newer one, just my .02

I like the carbd sbc anyways. The swap really isn't going to be very hard and won't cost much even if I have to weld in mounts. I've done this before on my datsun 280z (sbc installed). The engine is a vortec and all the accessories will bolt right to front of engine so it will be pretty straight forward.

I just want to make sure I don't go through the effort with the mounts if something else is available.

And I do plan on doing an LS swap...just not in the truck. That's going in the datsun. That's where this engine is coming from

Try advanced adapters for motor mounts
