You didnt try and flash a 02 vin in your 99 PCM? You just copied the tables

Correct. Some tables will be smaller in the 99 tune so I had to average them out. Worked well for me though. Gonzo I can send you a copy of my file if you want. That will answer most of your questions. The 02 tune will crash the pcm fi you do a full flash.

OK, so it seems the 02 PCM has a little more flash ram on it, so a 99-00 owner would need to get an updated PCM to run the 02 tune.

I see a common misconception echoing from this thread. Several of you guys are copying the values from the 02 tables into your older PCMs. What you need to realize is that its not specifically the data in the tables that you want, its the underlying operating system running on that 2002 PCM. LS1 Edit (or HPT) gives you access to the tables, but you have no access to the base operating system. That operating system defines the relationship of tables, may have additional tables or features, handles the computations, etc... The OS gives you the features and abilities, while the tables are just the settings.

I struggled with a 99 truck for 4 years and even tried copying the 02 tables to it. I didn't realize how much beter the newer PCM operating systems are until I got my 2003. Its been much easier to get consistent results from tuning changes than from my 99.

EFILive Flashscan Commercial version allows the entire OS to be reflashed now. I'm thinking of upgrading to a '01 OS but, I need to research it a bit to verify what I need.

XLR8NSS: I would like to know this also, from reading the website it looks like we can simply flash the new operating system(2001+) into the 99-00 pcm.

I put a post up over on www.efilive.com/forum/ in the Flashscan section.

So that's the big difference between the 99-00 and 01-02 PCM's...different operating systems? Would that be kinda like the difference between Windows2000 and WindowsXP...is that a decent analogy? Man, I learn so much good stuff here every day!
