Some of the earler 99-01 ECMs would have fauls knocks if any FI system was installed.
(Thats way I upgraded anyway)

Oh, in that case, I hope I don't run in to any trouble.

That's what happened to me after I installed my cam and springs. The PCM must pick up on the increased valvetrain harmonics and think it's knock. I was getting 7.9* of KR any time I opened the throttle even slightly. The 02 PCM cured that for me...(I know that 99silver5.3 and creederado ran into the same issues)

I was getting false knock also but Allen cured that by opening the knock sensor band width.

The 00 PCM is the same as the 99. From what i understand there's not enought memory in the 99-00 PCM to flash it with the 02 file.

I have heard that too. But then I have heard from a couple of PCM gurus it can be done. From what i understand it's the 02 file that makes for a better tune.So if the file fits there is no reason not to use the 99-00 PCM

Well, that whole false knock this is true for me on my truck and all I have is exhaust!! I borrowed my school's Snap-on Modis and went for a test drive, and almost 8 time out of 10, everytime i accelerated from a stop, hard, easing into it, no matter what, I was am increased signal from the knock sensor, and watched the timing retard, then, as I got going, it would fade away and start advancing the timing. So I'm pretty sure it did that on stock vehicles aswell. I plan on installing a cam, headers, some self-ported heads, and a few other mods as well, so I figure fix it now before it becomes too much of a hassle later. BTW, if I were to purchase HPTUNERS, then would I need to buy it for a 2002?
