My friend is looking for some type of particular items like a cam kit or maybe a upgraded ignition for the truck and some full legnth headers for the truck and is willing to spend some money for the parts cuz hes tired of not having any power. Just something to start him out with so he can be satisfied that he can make a little power and torque. Any sugestions please.

 

im not sure on the details of the TBi trucks but these mods work on basically any vehicle

headers
exhaust
gears
stall
some sort of high flowing air intake
a new computer tune
electric fans
basic tune up stuff, plugs, wires, clean TB, etc.

 

He does not have a tbi.
Assuming he has the Vortec 350, tell him to start off with some headers like Thorley and then a custom exhaust to follow.

After that go ahead and get a custom tune. Try Nelson, Wheatley, Westers, Black Bear Performance, etc as all of these are reputable tuners.
What gears does he have? If 3.42 or even 3.73, try some 4.10s with an Limited slip added in. I am pretty happy with my Auburn ECTED.

Still not happy with the truck? Then try a higher stall torque converter like a 3000 unless he tows then go with something like a 2600. Next up would be a cam, vavlesprings, locks and retainers, and pushrods.

If he gets all of these or even up to the cam then you can come back.

Only go with heads and cam if you have all the other mods. Cam and heads are pointless without supporting mods.
