Question 98 GMC Savana 5.7 motor upgrade or swap, LS1 maybe?

Hello all!
Here's the scoop. I bought this 98 savana sle van for a mere $450 bucks. Motor bought the farm at 287,000 miles. I am gonna give it new life and had a crazy thought of giving it some more power, maybe a LS1 swap if I find its not too much a pain in the #SS! Can anyone tell me if a conversion harness is available for the swap and what else I would have to do, or any are there any other motors or intakes that I can run without too much computer and wiring swap headaches?
Any info is much appreciated. The world needs another norm looking van with extra power to show those rice burning cars with fart pipes in the back what they could have done with the money and not be just another annoying noise on the road!!!!!!

Thanks all- Wild Bill

I know the '98 LS1 had a wiring harness all of its own...'99-up work together. Someone else give Willie some advice here?? I think it's a great idea, Willie. With a set of 4.10's in that baby, and a empty truck w/a LS1 and a stout automatic, you should be able to shred the tires off that thing at will... there are already more than a handful of Astro-type vans running around the country w/ LS1 power terrorizing the streets.... I love vans. (being a Plumber.) WJ

Talking savana swap

Thanks for your reply,
Other than the savana, I also have a 93 astro hi-top conversion van with the 4.3 vortec that I'm driving now. Can't imagine the the pains of putting a v8 in one considering the fun I just had pulling the motor out of the savana last night. Nothing close to as easy as my 74 ford van I replaced a motor in years ago but in the end any trouble for power is worth it, right?
