That's what I would do in this case. The stock MAF is actually 95mm I.D. at the screen then tapers in to 90mm. I guess that compensates for the screen resistance.

That's what I've always heard and read, but It made a difference in my truck. May just be a coincidence. If you take off the screen you will get REP message because of the unmetered air that makes your engine run lean but a tune should fix it. The purpose of the screen is to straighten the airflow for better airflow measurement I just think it should be redesigned because it's pretty restrictive. Maybe something like the one Ford uses would work better.

I guess this is the exeption because I would say over 90% of trucks have the stock MAF.
