Default 8.1L E fans?, Ac cluch / fan problem

So its 91* out side and this black suburban with black interior is like a freaking oven. Thought maybe i need some 134R or what ever it take. Went to autozone put some one in... nada.. The guy said " you orphas something might be clogged"

It blows cold when you drive on the freeway just not in town... The motor is also running about 15* hotter than it should. its showing 205-210 *

So today i went by a friends shop and he said " your orphas what thing could be clogged..... But i bets its the cluch something condenser.. he does not talk real loud or i cant hear.

So he hooked up the ac check thing.. shows 50 psi... then drops to 40 psi. So he had me turn off the turck then restart while he held something on the fan. Then he said the cluch is bad... also ask where in the hell i got the fan. For some reason i have a 4 blad metal fan that looks like blades off a lawn mower which seems strange because i havent seen a metal fan in years on a car. Much less a 01.

He suggested a few things.
1) See what the factory fan size is and why its not plastic,
2) See how much CFM it is suppse to have
3) see how much electric fans are.

He said i might be able to pick up some mileage and hp with the electric fans and he feel sure they will cool this motor better than the stock crap..

So any suggestion on where to look or what to look for?

did you buy it new? I've never heard of metal clutch fan on NBS. Should be a white/yellow plastic fan

if it blows cold while goin down the highway but not at idle, it does seem like either its low on Freon or your fan clutch is acting up?

I bought it used so god only what could have happend. I dont get the metal fan, my 93 toyota has a plastic fan so you think a 8 year new suv would have a plastic fan.

I think jonath hit the nail on the head. Mark the guy i talked to cant hear.. He's got hearing aids, so if they are in he doesnt talk loud and if they are you can hear him 1/4 mile away...

How would i find out about that fan, just go to a Chevy dealer and ask them?

sounds like the clutch fan to me. If that fan isnt pulling air through the AC condensor (the small radiator looking thing in front of your radiator) then it wont blow cold. That explains why it is blowing colder when you drive.

It was the Clutch fan,

IM not to happy though. I guess it has never worked, The Metal fan is correct on a subruan they told me.

So i replaced the clutch fan and it sounds like a freaking school bus. I take that back. It sould like mid 80's S10 blazer with the 2.8L you know the ones you could hear 4 miles away. I aks the parts guy and he said " yea they all sound like that" I said well the 04 GMC truck doesent as well as the 07" denali...

Its anoying as hell, if it doesent stop i guess ill spend the $548.00 on the two big electric fans. This sucker drowns out the radio and stays spinning threw 2nd gear.
